We use location-targeted social media advertisements to reach potential graduate students. In the same way, the campaign is promoted for students in the United States. We connect with students via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and our website InGear.org.
Our mission is to make the process of obtaining a graduate degree in the United States more viable for students from disadvantaged, vulnerable, or marginalized countries and communities.
On an individual and societal basis, education remains a key factor for improving the quality of life. We understand this not only from our personal experiences but also from surveying dozens of students from many regions of the world. There is a goldmine of raw talent, with many self-starters from disadvantaged, vulnerable, and marginalized communities. Students motivated to become their finest selves for both personal and communal development are essential. Our goal is to assist these students in establishing partnerships, knowledge, and skills in the United States to be better able to invest in and improve their native countries. We see InGear mentees as future leaders with a vested interest in giving back to their communities.
We know there are quality universities in developing countries. While this may be true, the U.S. houses the top universities in the world. Equipping mentees and students with tools to take on challenges and earn an advanced degree from a globally competitive university is multi-beneficial.
First, a student signs up, instantly becoming a part of our community. The sense of connection and encouragement are two major factors that affect a student’s likelihood to pursue an advanced degree. We utilize several platforms to connect. Students learn about everything from the admissions process to surviving their first week on campus. Additionally, students have access to our podcast series. The InGear podcast features scholars and professionals speaking candidly, sharing the good and bad, about their experiences. More interestingly, they provide tips for success and give retrospective advice. Most importantly, members receive an e-book, “PhD in the USA,” which provides a roadmap for earning an advanced degree in the United States.
The obstacles are many! The fees, tests, writing samples, recommendation requests, deadlines, and processes can be unclear or overwhelming. We break down how the U.S. advanced degree system functions. Students and mentees learn about securing grants, stipends, scholarships, and waivers. We explain how to sharpen time management and test-taking skills. Students can expect to establish mentorships and professional networks along the way. Ultimately, students will understand what success in a U.S. advanced degree program requires.
Social media is huge in the underdeveloped nations, just like it is here! For this reason, we use location-targeted social media advertisements to reach potential graduate students. In the same way, the campaign is promoted for students in the United States.
